Dubai intend their Expo hall to look futuristic and utilise examples of the latest technology.
When Dubai were awarded the right to host the next Global Expo in 2020, they carried forward a tradition which began at the Crystal Palace in 1851.
In that year, new technology was represented by the telegraph, at the time an incredible leap in communication. The next Expo will see further strides forward, into a world the Victorians would consider fiction.
Dubai intend to be true to their theme of “Connecting minds, creating the future.” The world coming together, to share ideas, build collaboration and celebrate human ingenuity.
Preparing The Ground
A recent Dubai government exhibition and conference focused on the forthcoming Expo, the technology this would display and changes which had taken the country to this point.
Amongst them were the adoption of ATA carnets in 2011 and expansion of the system since. A decision which has been valuable for business and will be essential for the Expo.
We don’t doubt they will create an imaginative, high tech environment no business should miss. Being there is simply easier if you can avoid a number of customs formalities on the way.
A Lasting Legacy
A few ideas portrayed at the Expo will vanish into history, others will endure. They will help to build the world of commerce in a sustainable way, as ATA carnets have.
They were an experimental idea in 1961, yet most countries to try them, such as Dubai, have kept to the plan. Brazil another example, they originally joined for the 2016 Olympics and use has since quadrupled.
Carnets now support over £17 billion of trade across much of the world. We hope ideas emerging from the 2020 Expo offer similar benefits and take us into the future.
